House Update!

September 16, 2009

I know that it’s been a while since I’ve posted an update on my journey to home ownership! So here we go…

I have received the official time and date for my closing! I will close on my house tomorrow afternoon at 1pm! I am so excited and ready to take this next step in my adult life! I will be posting pictures and keeping everyone updated on all the changes that will be happening with my house. There’s a lot of work to do before I move in but it’s going to be fun to say the least!

This has been a long and interesting 60 days but it’s finally time to get the keys to my new home! Thank you Jesus!

Last night I had the amazing opportunity to partake in an indescribably powerful worship experience. Hillsong United performed at the Spirit Bank Center here in Tulsa and my friends and I scored some awesome seats!

I don’t have the words to express what took place last night, so the pictures will have to do for now…

Hillsong United

I can’t begin to describe my elation for the upcoming Hillsong United concert here in Tulsa, OK on August 26th at the Spirit Bank Center!!! My co-workers and I were able to take advantage of the “pre-sale” today and tickets go onsale to the general public tomorrow morning. I’m not going to lie – we got some pretty amazing seats at a great price!

This will be my first time to see Hillsong United live and I can’t tell you how long I’ve been waiting for this. This is going to be the experience of a lifetime!!! Be sure to get your tickets here!!!

Sale Pending!

July 22, 2009

So I must say – as a first time homebuyer it’s really all the little things that get you excited. Last night my mom and I were headed over to check out a few things at my house. Right as we were pulling into the neighborhood we recognized a car in my driveway. We figured it was someone coming to do some inspections or check out the AC unit. We decided to pull around to the other side of the street and “secretly” watch from afar. He got out of his car, opened his trunk, and pulled out a sign. I got so excited! They officially put out the “Sale Pending” sign!

I know this is not a big deal to some people – but to me, this little thing made my evening!!!

There’s no place like home…

July 15, 2009

for sale I am so excited to share my new journey with my fellow bloggers. I am in the process of becoming a first time home owner! This journey is exciting and terrifying all at the same time. For those of you who have been down this road before, you understand what I mean. For those of you who have yet to step forward on this path – hold on tight and enjoy the ride!

Having a realtor in the family makes the home buying process so much smoother and minimizes the headaches for sure! I know I would be completely lost if it wasn’t for the skills and time investment that my mother has put into this search. THANK YOU MOM!!! (Ok sappy moment done!)

The process has really moved quite quickly for me. Just last week my mom and I were looking at homes for me “for fun.” We decided to go ahead and see if I would be approved for any type of a loan. To our surprise – I did qualify!

Side note: with the price range I’m looking at for a starter home, the nice homes are seriously only on the market about a week before they are purchased (mostly by investors). So it’s wise to put an offer immediately on a home you like!

Friday, we found a home that would be a great first home. By Tuesday, we had completed and submitted an offer. Now it’s just a sit and wait game!

Here are some things that I understand when it comes to purchasing a home:

– You can’t get to attached to any home. Things move quickly in real estate world and you can easily be outbid.
– What looks good may not be so good. Inspections are key!!!!
– Stay open-minded. Look beyond what you see. There may be a lot of potential if you’re willing to put a little TLC into your investment.
Most importantly: GOD’S TIMING AND PLANS ARE PERFECT AND ARE FOR MY BENEFIT WHEN I TRUST HIM EVERY STEP OF THE WAY!
